Thank you

This server is still in the 'dev' mode so we haven't done any IP address moves; I'm just playing with name changes to confirm I can make it happen on demand.

Re use AdminP to move users - if I can't get the system to be renamed, I'll use this as a backup option. We did a 'rename new server to old name' when we migrated from version 4 to 6 so I'd like to keep the same server name if possible.

I believe both servers were in the LocalDomainServer group.
I would check the logs but I just killed all the directories and uninstalled 8.5.2 in anticipation of trying again with the 8.5.3 installer. This time around I'll check the log files.

Re what shows up on the console. I was going to try and describe what I thought I was seeing but decided against it. Each experiment resulted in slightly different outcomes. In some cases, I'd start the server pointing to the 2nd server's id and it would come up looking like the 1st server in the console but from my client I couldn't hit either named server. By the end of the day, I'm not sure I could confirm my own name...

OK, new week, new eyes, new installer, gonna take another run at it.

Many thanks for your reponses and ideas. I'll post back once I've taken another shot at this process.
